An outcome measure is a standardized quantitative or qualitative tool that is used to assess patients and their treatments by providing baseline data that can be compared to future data.
Outcome measures are important because they allow you and your prosthetist to see your progress over time. Any data obtained from an analysis or assessment will help your prosthetist better understand you and your needs. It's important for prosthetists to gather information on your experiences as a patient as well as data from different analyses performed by your prosthetist.
Once your goals and needs are understood by your prosthetist, they will use this information to create a prosthesis that best suits you.
